Index:
- Action items will be indicated by the assigned person's name in ALL CAPS before the item.
SHANNON:
Logo - will do?
About eating, cooking, tasting, drinking - cultural and anthropological
NOT intended to be cooking school
Gourmand, not gourmet (but without the bad association of gourmand)
BRONWEN:
Cybele, a Candy blogger, asked to attend - maybe conduct a tasting
Joanna needs guidance on insurance
LLC is expensive to start - $800/paperwork - $2K minimum (we'll probably avoid this if we can.)
JOANNA
Where to go for sponsors? if we can get funding, do we want to go further?
50 people is pretty manageable (per crystal)
Doesn't have to be overnight
People might not be able to prepare food for 50 people
We should use Geek Dinner as a model
- We can start like this, just rotate between peoples' homes and/or restaurants
- know attendance/size beforehand
At a Health Fair event, JoAnna had 125 people in the audience, so gave out raffle tickets to win possible tastes
Bring in people from outside the (barcamp) community
we think food will bring a different crowd from typical BarCamp (per Douglas)
Possible sessions:
- How to hack a diet
- How to stage a food intervention
- Recipe microformats
- Obsessing without snobbery
Panel disucssions ?
CookCamp was barely promoted at all and held at Citizen' s Base (per crystal)
We could host a Food Event where everyone brings food "Gigantic Potluck"
- Open Source Catering
- Sign up for genre of food to bring
Would NOT want a contest, but mention was made of Iron FoodCamp Chef
everyone would need to bring his/her own stuff -- food, supplies, equipment, etc
White elephant food exchange (JoAnna's idea, shot down unanimously)
- Reminded someone of trading lunches as a kid and drinking pickle juice for lunch
Possibly bring in Food Network or film crew to create a "show" ourselves
Scheduling:
*** Tentative date: Sunday, August 31 (Labor Day Weekend)
CRYSTAL
will to talk to Super Happy vLog House folks in Ojai about their space
** See Joanna's notes for more locations
-- Sierra Club space near Mt. Baldy
- Sky Lodge
-- Mtn High Lodge
-- Parks
-- Circle X Ranch in Malibu -- for camping
-- Ori's Hollywood Hills
Channels of Communication:
- Skype Channel
